Anyone desiring to become a student at Bismarck State College may apply. However, there may be some limitations and restrictions to admission. Please refer to the following headings in this section of the catalog for information on special conditions that may restrict admission to BSC:

• Admission of students in high school
• Admission of international students
• Transferring to BSC from another college
• Admission/continued enrollment of individuals with defaulted loans and delinquent accounts

The general admission policy of the college does not ensure admittance to a particular program, because some programs have limited enrollments and/or academic or medical requirements.

Students who do not meet all admission requirements will be classified as special-transient students. Until the admission requirements are completed, these students may be denied future enrollment at BSC, and they are not eligible for financial aid or graduation. Transcripts of these students will indicate "conditionally admitted."

To be fully accepted for admission, the following steps are required for all prospective part-time and full-time students planning to enroll in a course of study at BSC.

1. Complete a BSC admissions application.
2. Pay a $35 application fee. This is non-refundable, but must be paid only once.
3. Ask your high school to mail one final, official transcript showing all of your high school grades to BSC. Do not have the transcript sent until after graduation. If you completed the GED (high school equivalency) exam, have the results sent to BSC.
4. If you have attended other colleges, ask them to mail one official and complete transcript, showing all courses attempted and grades earned, to BSC.
5. Take the ACT or COMPASS assessment and request that the assessment results be sent to BSC.
6. Provide documented proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella.

Copies of documents sent by fax machines, such as high school transcripts, GED results, and transcripts from other colleges, are not considered official. Official documents are those sent by other organizations directly to BSC. BSC reserves the right to require official copies of other documents, such as ACT/SAT test results, Immunization records, or other records, if warranted.
