If I'm Talking To Myself, Is Anyone Listening?

This is a presentation about the power of positive "self-talk". An overview is given about speaker-listener communication and then a focus is on intra personal communication (speaking to one person - yourself). The importance of listening is discussed, especially listening to the messages we send ourselves. Even though this presentation is based on theories of communication, the examples and illustrations used are from every day "ups and downs" dealing with family and work situations which for the most part are humorous and upbeat. It serves as a reminder to listen to the "talk" we send ourselves and to evaluate the negative programming we unconsciously set. We look at the levels of "self talk" and suggest that you move to the most beneficial level for you. This could be adapted to fit different age levels and interest groups. (30 minutes to 1 hour)
