ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST (ESL)

BSC requires all foreign students, except those from countries in which English is the official language, to demonstrate proficiency in the English language before being admitted to the college. Two methods are used to evaluate a student's proficiency of the English language.
TOEFL EXAM (English as a Foreign Language)
Paper-based exam: 525 or higher Computer-based exam: 195 or higher

COMPASS ESL EXAM
Writing Placement Exam: 84-93 Conditional Acceptance 94 or higher Full Acceptance
Listening Placement Exam: 82-91 Conditional Acceptance 92 or higher Full Acceptance
Reading Placement Exam: 92 or higher Full Acceptance
Note: Students must meet requirements on all three COMPASS/ESL exams. If only conditional acceptance is achieved on the writing and listening, the student will be required to meet with the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services to discuss course selection.
