  1. Assessment score requirements for program admittance:
If you are under the age of 25, you will need to have an ACT score of 16 or higher in math.
If you are over the age of 25, have ACT scores more than five years old or have not met the requirement for the ACT test, you will need to take the COMPASS or Accuplacer assessment. These are assessments of your skills in math and writing. For more information about placement exams, please click here. Please take both portions of the assessment. The COMPASS score in math that is required is a 41 or higher on the pre-algebra portion. The Accuplacer score that is required is a 44 or higher on the elementary algebra portion.
Completion of previous college math (Beginning Algebra or above) also meets the program entrance requirements. After BSC receives your college transcript, we will review the math course and let you know if it meets the requirement. If you have not previously completed a college English course comparable to ENGL 110 College Composition I, you will need an assessment of your writing skills.
  1. If you have attended other colleges, request an official transcript to be sent to BSC. All transcripts need to be officially sent (in a sealed envelope) from the schools to:

    Bismarck State College
