The Dakota Youth Symphony rehearses and performs music written for full
symphony orchestra. The repertoire covers many different musical eras. Past
concerts have included Bartok's "Romanian Dances," Handel's "Music for the
Royal Fireworks," Mendelssohn's Wedding March from "A Midsummer Night's
Dream," and symphonies by Mozart and Haydn.
A concert is given each semester; the Fall concert is the Sunday afternoon before Thanksgiving and the Spring concert is a Sunday afternoon in late April.
The Spring concert features student soloists from within the symphony, chosen by audition at the annual Concerto Competition.
The Dakota Youth Symphony is composed of students of all ages (grade school through college) from the Bismarck/Mandan area.
