Innovative partnerships with local and regional business and industry have transformed BSC into a 21st century community college. In 2010, BSC achieved international recognition as recipient of the Institutional Service Award for expanding quality programs and access to adult learners from the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning.

ENERGY

Energy education is BSC's largest and fastest growing program area. BSC's National Energy Center of Excellence (NECE) programs are recognized nationally and developed with industry to meet workforce standards. Classrooms and labs are housed in the $18.5 million National Energy Center of Excellence building. The "green," four-story structure was completed through financial partnerships with local, state and federal government, energy companies and individuals.
BSC has responded to industry demand by offering the nation's premier online, four-year degree to prepare technicians for supervisory or management positions. The college has approval of the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) as a continuing education provider and works with the Energy Providers Coalition for Education.
Besides energy industry education, the NECE offers:
- Apprenticeship training that combines theoretical instruction with on-the-job experience. The NECE creates a customized program to meet the needs of your organization.
- Grow Your Own Workforce program for recruiting new employees.

WORKFORCE TRAINING

 The Continuing Education, Training and Innovation division (CETI) provides specialized instruction annually to hundreds of businesses, healthcare and government entities and thousands of individuals. CETI offers workforce and leadership training to companies and their employees through TrainND, conference planning, and life-long learning enrichment classes. PROGRAM COMMITTEES

BSC ensures quality and relevant training for its technical and job-ready programs by initiating and maintaining close relationships with industry experts. The college has recruited these industry representatives for service on Program Advisory Committees to advise BSC's technical programs. They contribute to curriculum development and inform faculty and department chairs about new advancements in their field. Companies also have joined BSC in training partnerships through student internships and paid tuition.

CAREER SERVICES

BSC Career Services partners with Job Service North Dakota and other agencies and organizations to sponsor job fairs and help employers find workers. Held at BSC, these events provide a cost-effective way for companies to recruit full-time and part-time employees. Students gain advantage by meeting prospective employers and practicing their job search skills.
