COOPERATIVE EDUCATION/INTERNSHIP

Cooperative Education/lnternship combines classroom learning with related work experiences. Students from all majors have the opportunity to enroll. The number of course credits earned depends on the total number of hours the student works. Each department is responsible for deciding how often a student may enroll in the Cooperative Education/Internship course.

Work experiences are usually for pay; however, some are not. Students interested in gaining a meaningful work experience should contact their faculty adviser or department chairperson. Students must have consent of their department chairperson before enrolling.

Students have three options for enrolling in the Cooperative Education/lnternship experience:

  • Parallel plan: Enroll in a Cooperative Education/Internship placement along with regular classes.
  • Alternating plan: Devote a full semester to work placement and do not enroll in regular classes.
  • Summer plan: Devote the summer to work placement at one or more work sites.

For additional information, refer to the course description or contact your faculty advisor or department chairperson.
